Lisa Jackson: It's okay to finish last

Lisa Jackson, the author of the best-sellers Running Made Easy, Your Pace or Mine?, Travel Seekness and Travel Agents is a surprising cheerleader for the joys of running. Formerly a committed fitness-phobe, she became a marathon runner at 31 and, more astonishingly, ran her first 56-mile ultramarathon aged 41. Unlike many runners, Lisa’s not afraid to finish last – in fact, she’s done so in 25 of the 110 marathons and ultras she’s completed so far. A Runner's World columnist and regular contributor to Women's Running magazine and other publications, the self-styled 'World's Slowest Marathon Correspondent' has reported on marathons in 22 countries - while always wearing fancy dress! Lisa is also a clinical hypnotherapist.

Huw Jack Brassington: Old Man In the Chair, Hosted by David Hellard

Adventurer, athlete and overenthusiastic Welshman. Huw has learnt some hard lessons as he chucks himself into some of the toughest races in the world - from the Coast to Coast in New Zealand to Ultra X in Sri Lanka. His self-deprecating humour and go-for-gold attitude never fails to leave people feeling inspired to take their chances and in doing so, become the best they can be.

When I’m 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, sipping a whiskey, stroking my pet micro pig, I want to be sat there content in the fact that I’ve left nothing out on the pitch – no unanswered questions. We’re all dust in the end - but I want my pile of dust to have an interesting story! Life is bloody short and time is ticking so I just get out there and take every opportunity that comes my way. One added bonus to saying yes to every race, adventure or challenge that comes your way is that you live out of your comfort zone. This lets you become comfortable with the uncomfortable and means you can adapt quickly without breaking stride. Your body hardens and your mind becomes resilient so the more you do the greater the chances of success. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy! But the important thing is not to get hung up on success - yes it’s important to finish that race but it’s far more important to be brave enough to toe the start line. We’re only here once, so fear of failure is a luxury we can’t afford. I have a knack for making all the stupid mistakes, but who cares! For me it used to be about winning - but not anymore. This might sound cheesy, but now it’s about making the most out of life, giving yourself the opportunity to answer those questions before it's too late and enjoying the view from the summit while you're at it.

I've been training and helping people improve their health and well-being for well over a decade and pride myself on having a wealth of experience which not only includes working as a personal trainer but also as a rehabilitation instructor in the NHS. I was lucky enough to feature in the BBC series ‘Lose Weight and Get Fit with Tom Kerridge’ earlier this year which was one of the best experiences of my life, and I'm absolutely chuffed to bits to be invited to attend RunFestRun! The most important lesson I've learnt over the years is to keep things as simple as possible - looking after yourself really doesn't have to be overly complicated, and if you can find a healthy pursuit you enjoy doing then you've really hit the jackpot.
